Hockey · Skating only · Credential-aware

Hockey skating,
nothing else.

Just edges, stride, and the science of the blade. Edgesmith is a skating-only online instruction platform built for youth, travel, junior, and high-school players — and the coaches who train them.

We are deliberately not a multi-skill bundle. Every minute of curriculum is biomechanics, edge work, and stride — taught by coaches whose credentials are specifically in skating.

Why Edgesmith

The defensible lane the market doesn’t yet serve.

The Pond, Katy Jo Power Skating, and the broader subscription libraries bundle shooting, stickhandling, and passing into the same feed. They also stop at the edge of regional scheduling and geography — serious skaters can’t train often enough to move the needle. Edgesmith is the credential-aware alternative.

01One lane, deliberately

No shooting, no stickhandling, no passing. The catalog is skating — biomechanics, drills, progressions, form-analysis videos. Anything else is a distraction from what we actually coach.

02Credentialed, not influencer

Every curriculum author holds a recognized power-skating certification. The Prosumer review rubric is the same one we use to credential coaches, so the scoring doesn’t drift.

03Plan, not a feed

Subscribers don’t scroll an infinite library. They get a monthly 4-week plan keyed to position and age band, with structured dryland cues that transfer to the ice.

04Built for coaches too

The Coach tier licenses the curriculum for in-person clinics — regional instructors can teach the same drills they see in the app, with the same rubric behind them.

Curriculum

Six mechanics. No filler.

The catalog is organised around the mechanics that actually move a hockey player — not a topic list designed to look complete. Short form-analysis videos map common faults to specific fixes.

Edge quality
Foundational · Every level · Every position.

Inside and outside edges, holds, and recoveries are the base. Everything else — stride, crossovers, transitions — is built on how well you hold an edge under load. We treat it as the unit, not a topic.

Holds · Push
Outside edge
Lateral · Reach
Recovery
Heel-toe · Resets
02Forward stride
Forward
Forwards · D
Stride length, recovery-leg drive, shin angle — the metrics that decide whether you actually accelerate.
03Lateral push
Lateral
D · Goalie
Inside-edge lateral push, recovery foot pressure, gap stick on edge.
04Crossovers
Sequencing
All levels
Wide and tight curves, sequencing, tight-to-loose rhythm at game speed.
05Tight turns & mohawks
Transitions
All levels
Forward-to-backward pivots, mohawk transitions, controlled stops on either side.
06Explosive starts
Power
Forwards
First three strides in every direction, recovery leg drive, dryland transfer cues.

Monthly progression

A 4-week arc keyed to position and age band.

Plans reset on the first of the month so the curriculum stays current. Each week has a single skating focus, 3–4 supporting drills from the library, and a paired dryland cue that transfers to the ice.

First-step explosion and offensive edge work — built for the player who has to gain a half-stride on a defenseman.
